Abstract

No romance Budapeste, Chico Buarque, na pele de José Costa, narrador-personagem em busca de sua própria identidade em meio à poluição de signos que povoa as cidades, discute com maestria a questão contemporânea acerca do processo de homogeneização cultural. O desejo de compreensão do diferente ”“ materializado no romance pela cidade de Budapeste e pela língua húngara ”“ estimula o ghost-writer brasileiro a se aventurar em viagens reais e ficcionais por cidades e por idiomas. O resultado de tal incursão é uma rica narrativa, aparentemente fácil e fluida, mas de fato densa e carregada de finas ironias, capaz de revelar ao leitor a enorme dificuldade que o homem tem de conviver com o Outro em um mundo denominado globalizado. O romance oferece rara oportunidade de se refletir, poeticamente, sobre a percepção que temos, estereotipada, na maioria das vezes, sobre culturas diferentes da nossa.
