The emptying of narrative activity in Os cem menores contos brasileiros do século (2004), an anthology organized by Marcelino Freire

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss about reasons, implications and means as the anthology Os cem menores contos brasileiros do século (2004) differ, due to the narrative exhaustion exposed in his writing, of texts linked to a more or less stable narrative structure, which is a short story in its classical and modern times. Thus, the study which links the critical to the theoretic, runs through three key parts: the debate about the possibility of writing of a short-short story, subgenres of short story; the moment which it aims to highlight, in theory and through the exemplifications, the distance between the short- short story and the microforms or micro-writings are compared to what some researchers have been calling flash fiction. The result of this path is the understanding that the hundred micro- writings go beyond the anti-tale dynamics of flash fictions, since, instead of corrupting their narrativity by harboring other generic structures, they choose to exhaust it, with the support of writing subtraction, as they are anchored by the sometimes misleading expectation of a reader- writer, able to narrativize what at most was an insinuation of a report, or a free speech provided with semantic mystery.
