Erupting bodies: black women, erotic writing and alternative publishing circuits

The work investigates the erotic writing produced by black women on alternative publishing circuits. Bearing in mind that the 1990s saw the emergence of new writers who published their work on digital media, the alternative circuits are a consequence of this phenomenon of writing that is born on the web and has to resort to extra-market publication, since they can't find space in the traditional publishing market. For black women, alternative circuits provide a space to tell stories about themselves, their bodies and their experiences - and to illustrate this research, we use the book Além dos Quartos: Coletânea Erótica Negra Louva Deusas (2015), organized and published by the Louva Deusas collective. This bibliographical work is based on the contributions of Cornejo Polar (2000), Josefina Ludmer (2013), Regina Dalcastagnè (2012), Hugo Achugar (2006), Ítalo Moriconi (2020), Audre Lorde (2020), Stig Hjarvard (2014), Bell Hooks (2021) e Luiz Henrique de Oliveira (2018). In this way, the study presents alternative publishing circuits as a contemporary phenomenon that has given black women who dedicate themselves to erotic writing the chance to occupy the literary scene and tear up a system that has placed them on the margins of the traditional publishing market and intellectual production through the objectification of their bodies and the control of their voices.
