Flights of a bird-book: aesthetic construction in Fios do tempo: (almost haikais)
Keywords:
indigenous authorship; Graça Graúna; paperback book; Fios do tempoAbstract
Literature by indigenous authors has a plurality of languages, genres (poems, short stories, novels, among others), themes and, above all, in the making of the book itself. There is a frequent need to suggest different meanings in the aesthetics of the work, beyond the written text itself. Given the importance of broadening the perspectives of studies on these productions, the aim is to analyse the construction of the book Fios do tempo: (quase haikais), 2021 by the Potiguara author Graça Graúna, published by Baleia Cartonera, arguing that the work's artisanal elaboration and its poems in haiku form weave a unique aesthetic construction. The predominantly qualitative, bibliographical research draws on the thinking of indigenous intellectuals (Graúna, 2013; Potiguara, 2020); and scholars on the production of the book in cartonera form (Santana, 2015; Noury, 2021). Thus, this article shows that Fios do tempo: (quase haikais) invites readers to immerse themselves in an anti-anthropocentric perspective on life, in contact with this book-object, expanding research into contemporary indigenous literatures and alternative publishers in Brazil.
