Thoughts on Animation Theater in Brazilian Universities

Abstract

The present article is the transcription of the conversation held with Professor Mario Piragibe, with corrections and additions made by the interviewed. Doctor Mário Ferreira Piragibe was interviewed on October 07, 2020, through the Zoom platform. This interview is an integral part of my PhD research in Performing Arts at the University of Brasilia. During the conversation, Professor Mario re- flects about the teaching of Animation Theater at Brazilian universities. He told in his report the trajectory with the names of the first university researchers that thought about the subject in Brazil. He also emphasized about importan- ce of experimentation that the Animation Theater can provide to the future Bachelor or Degree in Theater (Performing Arts). The interview presents consi- derations about Brazilian publications on Animation Theater. Furthermore, Professor Mario describes his experience during the post-doctoral research at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama/ London, under the supervision of Cariad Astles. Then, he ends looking ahead post-pandemic.
