The article presents the impressions of the director and theorist Jean-Gabriel Carasso as he follows part of the rehearsal process and debut of the musical comedy As Comadres (2019) in Brazil, with artistic supervision by Ariane Mnouchkine. Merging aspects of the staging, the creative methodology, and the Brazilian political context of that moment, his reflections lead the reader through the intricacies of creation led by the French director, in his first foray outside the Théâtre du Soleil.
