About the Journal
Focus and scope of the journal: Discursos Contemporâneos em Estudo is a quarterly publication of the Centro de Pesquisa em Análise de Discurso Crítica (CEPADIC), under the seal of the Departamento de Linguística, Português e Línguas Clássicas (LIP) and the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística (PPGL) the Universidade de Brasília (UnB). The journal has the commitment to stimulate the debate about the role that discourse and texts plays in practices, events and social structures, which places its interest in the theoretical and methodological aspect of Critical Discourse Analysis, in articulation with Theory Social Semiotics of Multimodality and Systemic-Functional Linguistics. In this way are relevant analyses that associate discourse with the process of globalization, the multimodal constructions, the identity, recognition and difference notions, the gender category and the literacy practices. |

Public intended reader the journal The public intended reader the journal Discursos Contemporâneos em Estudo consists of researchers, students, teachers, and others interested in discourse studies. Given its transdisciplinary nature, the journal also interests to professionals from areas of knowledge, such as History, Sociology, Political Science, Philosophy, Education, among others. |

Peer review policy (who will do the evaluation and how will it be done - procedure): Given the general questions about the theoretical affiliation established in the focus on the scope of the journal, the submitted work is evaluated in the double-blind peer model, which is the responsibility of the members of the Editorial Board with ad hoc referees, teachers specializing in the themes of the manuscript submitted for publication. The editors of the journal, based on the opinions produced, decide, finally, whether to publish the manuscript or not. The aspects taken into consideration by the evaluators are established in the Evaluation Guidelines of the journal. relevance and pertinence of the approach or analysis; contribution to area studies; timeliness and consistency of the bibliography used; textual organization; clarity of objectives; correction of the text (in Portuguese, English and Spanish) with respect to its microstructural aspects (concordance, regency, punctuation, pronominal placement, vocabulary property, among others) consistency between the abstract and the body of the article; correlation between the titles expressed in Portuguese, English and Spanish; correlation between the contents expressed in the abstracts in Portuguese, English and Spanish; relevance of keywords; timeliness of the original work being reviewed; capacity for expression and critical evaluation; clarity of objectives. |

Criteria adopted for the selection / evaluation submitted manuscripts (Inform policy and evaluation guidelines): The journal Discursos Contemporâneos em Estudo is in line with the guidelines established by the Commission for Integrity in the Scientific Activity of CNPq (http://www.cnpq.br/web/guest/diretrizes) and with the recommendations of ethical procedures in publication for authors, editors and evaluators of the Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE (http://publicationethics.org/). It is the commitment of the editors of the journal to make efforts to prevent and combat the practice of plagiarism of content and other texts. Any type of content that characterizes racial, linguistic, gender, social class, sexual orientation, religion or geographical origin prejudice or discrimination shall also be pursued and combated. In addition, from the ethical point of view: |

1) Authors, when submitting works, declare the originality of the content produced in the article, in the review or in the interview. In addition, they testify that the work is unpublished and has not been published in other periodicals, books, websites or any other medium or media, completely or incompletely, in Portuguese or in any other language. Finally, the authors assume that the work has not been submitted to another journal simultaneously. 2) Authors, when submitting work, declare that they are in the public domain or have the appropriate authorization to use images that may be used as the object of analysis. 3) The publishers and the referees are obliged to objectively and exemption evaluate the content of the work received, except for the theoretical affiliation established in the scope of the journal. 4) The editors and the referees are obliged to keep confidential the evaluation process of the submitted work, including on the reasons that may lead them to be refused. 5) Other cases not provided for in these Guidelines should be informed to the editors of the journal so that the most sensible and appropriate action is taken. |
