Uma antropologia da imagem colonial
poder e figuração entre os manjaco da Guiné Bissau

Este artigo aborda a interação entre Antropologia e Fotografia com instrumentos de controle utilizados complementarmente pela colonização portuguesa em Africa. Ambos concorreram para o estabelecimento da ordem colonial como meios de classificação e de ordenação das populações colonizadas. Ambos fixaram imagens de poder e de hierarquia que se mantêm além do período em que foram elaboradas. Neste artigo, esta relação complementar é abordada por meio da análise do corpus documental publicado pelo Centro de Estudos da Guiné Portuguesa na antiga Guiné ortuguesa (atual Guiné-Bissau) e, em particular, sobre os Manjaco da região de Cacheu. A maioria destes documentos retratam os soberanos locais, mediadores preferenciais junto das populações subordinadas, e permitem questionar as formas de relação e manietação do poder local pela administração colonial.
