Gênero, masculinidade e poder
Revendo um caso do sul de Portugual

Em 1990-91 realizei trabalho de câmpo numa aldeia do sul de Portugal, o qual viria a resultar num livro (Vale de Almeida 1995a), que pretendia situar o estudo da masculinidade na área dos estudos de género, simultaneamente transcendendo a excessiva sobreposição entre estudos de género e estudos de mulheres, e recusando os aspectos revanchistas de alguns "men’s studies". Neste texto1 pretendo rever alguns conceitos e conclusões que hoje me parecem menos claros, à luz de algumas discussões entretanto surgidas na antropologia. Refiro-me, sobretudoT ao trabalho de Strathem a partir de 1988 e à discussão deste em Cornwall e Lindisfame (1994).
