This paper addresses different kinds of images that exerted influence on the creation of the novel Aura by Mexican author Carlos Fuentes, as well as images that were inspired by this literary work, materialized in cinema, animation and book illustration. This ensemble of images constitute an imaginary complex set around the literary work, which is directly related with the fantastic genre. In this investigative itinerary, the issue about text and image relations stands out, image appearing as a menacing or disruptive element over the order established by text. Concepts about the fantastic from authors such as Ítalo Calvino, Rosalba Campra and Mery Erdal Jordan, among others, are employed here to support the discussion, also including declarations and writings by Fuentes about his own work.
