Abstract

Presents the history and current situation of the Division of Music and Sound Archive of National Library Foundation of Brazil, the largest center for musical documentation of Latin America. Describes the main activities of the Division and its challenges, with emphasis on the composition of the collection, its technical treatment and the care possibilities provided by online services.

Author Biography

Luciana Grings, National library foundation

Luciana Grings holds a Doctoral degree in Social Memory from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Library Science (2000) and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, 2003) and a Master’s degree in Social Memory from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (2007). Since 2009 is Bibliographic Services Coordinator of the National Library Foundation of Rio de Janeiro, responsible for the areas of Legal Deposit, Exchange and Technical Processing. She is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the IFLA-LAC and member of the Technical Committee for the Evaluation of Projects of the Association of Ibero-American States for the development of the National Libraries of Ibero-America (ABINIA). She has experience in Library Science, with an emphasis on thematic analysis and administration of units of information.
