Abstract

The paper explores the repercussions the coup of State in Chile in September 11th 1973, especially in domestic scenario. Research was held at the Arquivo Histórico do Ministério das Relações Exteriores - henceforth AHMRE. Specifically were consulted documents sent to Itamaraty from Santiago in the subsequent days to the emergence of a bureaucratic-authoritarian regime commanded by General Augusto Pinochet Ugarte. Concludes that the coup were dramatic, long lasting and, in many cases, tragic for Chilean society and for others countries with traditional links and interests that country.
