This article is an analysis from the philosophical-existential book “The Age of Reason” by Jean-Paul Sartre, which has the aim to draw the problematics about the Liberty. Thereby, the text treats the sartrean ontology from the being of Liberty: the being-IN-itself, the being-FOR-itself, and the being-FOR-others, and how they entwine and converge. The article also presents how the Liberty manifests itself through the characters Mathieu, Daniel, and Marcelle, outlining a relationship between liberty and responsibility conflicting among the characters. Furthermore, the text questions the philosopher's view about literature being an engagement and, in this way, being the mimetic intention.
