Apresentaremos as principais características do esquema decorativo da sala do trono do palácio do rei neo-assírio Ashurnasirpal II, que reinou entre os anos de 883 e 859 a.C., localizado na antiga cidade de Kalhu, atual norte do Iraque. Entendemos como esquema decorativo a presença de imagens e textos inseridos em um contexto arquitetural. Acreditamos que a elaboração do esquema decorativo pode estar de certa forma ligada a projetos políticos e, desta maneira, seria uma expressão da ideologia e retórica reais. Através da análise do esquema decorativo, embasado por fontes escritas e materiais, tentaremos evidenciar os principais aspectos da política imperial vigente.
