Resumo

Iowa GamblingTask (IGT) apesar de amplamente utilizado na avaliação da tomada de decisão sobre incerteza, apresenta uma grande variabilidade no desempenho nos grupos experimentais e de controlo. Pretende-se com este trabalho proceder a uma revisão da literatura que relaciona a personalidade com o desempenho no IGT, de modo a clarificar o papel dessa variável na variância observada nessa tarefa. As conclusões evidenciam, como variáveis associadas frequentemente com o mau desempenho no IGT, a dimensão neuroticismo, a impulsividade e no que respeita à psicopatia e dependência de substâncias o fator associado à antissociabilidade. Finalmente, à luz destes resultados, são sugeridas algumas orientações para a pesquisa na área.

Doutorado em Psicologia Clínica. Professor Associado na Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação da Universidade de Coimbra e Investigador do Centro de Estudos Sociais (Laboratório Associado da Universidade de Coimbra). Nos últimos dois anos publicou trabalhos nas revistas internacionais “European Psychologist”, “International Journal of Psychoanalysis”, “The Spanish Journal of Psychology”; e nas revistas de língua portuguesa“Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa”; “Psiquiatria Clínica” e “Interações”.

As áreas de interesse científico são a tomada de decisão, a psicopatia, a dependência de substâncias e a violência doméstica.
