Resumo

C. S. Lewis (1898 ”“ 1963) viveu em uma época muito complicada do ponto de vista geopolítico (duas guerras mundiais), mas também bastante dinâmica no que tange à ciência e à tecnologia. O que este artigo irá explorar é justamente a visão da tecnologia e da ciência e a visão de cristianismo a partir dos escritos de Lewis, principalmente em suas obras “A abolição do homem” e “Trilogia Cósmica”, assim como cartas e ressonâncias em outras obras. As promessas com relação ao progresso, obtidas através do avanço das ciências e da tecnologia, começaram a ser vistas como falsas após duas guerras mundiais. Durante a primeira metade do século XX, diversos intelectuais escreveram ficções apontando uma visão negativa do futuro, tornando-se o favorito para se fazer pesadas ”“ e criativas ”“ críticas sociais. A crítica principal de Lewis estava centrada na ideia de que uma fé cega na ciência e na tecnologia levaria à abolição do homem, da própria natureza humana.
